The college is established in 1968 by late Govindraoji Sitaramji Tompe, a renowned philanthropist of his tim aramji Tompe, a renowned philanthropist of his time. His schooling cannot be traced out and perhaps this might be the reason which grieved him too much and consequently motivated him to provide the higher education to the students of adjacent area, the education which he himself could not get and remained thirsty all through his life and kept on yearning in desire to gain it. “To provide educational opportunities to the rural students of our area and illuminate the lives of the students with the divine boon of knowledge to make their careers to eradicate the darkness of their lives.” “To provide quality education to all sections of the rural society, strive to bring the students of rural area into the mainstream and cope up with the upcoming adversaries of their lives. Simultaneously they must help the nation in her pursuits of development.” The college was founded with the objective of providing quality education to the students, creating employment opportunities, providing community service, overall personality development and respect for the environment. Nevertheless, the vision that he possessed cannot tag him as an illiterate person, rather he may be called an unschooled person having great vision and mission of life. The tribal area called ‘Melghat’, known for its ‘Tiger Reserve Project’ is not far away from it. The college is affiliated to the Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Amravati.
