European Congress of Internal Medicine (ECIM)

The Federation is registered under the Belgian Law as International non for profit assoiciation administered by: The Executive Committee: President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary General, and Treasurer. These hold office for a period al, and Treasurer. These hold office for a period of two years (which in the case of the Secretary General and the Treasurer may be renewed up to a maximum of one term of 2 years). The General Assembly: The General Assembly is composed of the effective members, but only those members having fulfilled their financial obligations towards the Federation shall be admitted to the meetings of the General Assembly. The European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) was founded in 1996 from the Association Européenne de Médicine Interne (AEMI)*. AEMI itself had been founded in 1969 by members of the UEMS monospecialty section on internal medicine to provide a scientific organisation for European internal medicine. EFIM was formed by bringing together the national societies of internal medicine from each of the European countries, both inside and outside the European Union.
