Department is established in 1973. It is fist diploma program in state. Program is unique as it includes sandwich apprenticeship training of one year under curriculum. It is four year program. Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad was established in the ment Polytechnic, Ahmedabad was established in the year 1954 and has been a pioneer among all state government polytechnic institutes offering diplomas in Technical Education, in Gujarat state. It is one of the oldest educational institutes of the World Heritage city of Ahmedabad. The institute offers ten different diploma programmes under Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE) and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University(GTU). The institute is located right in the heart of the city and has been for many years, the first choice among students for their admission. Government Polytechnic - Ahmedabad is one of the Pioneer Institute in Diploma Technical Education side since 1957. Institute is running various 13 different diploma courses under CTE and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.
