Department of Education, Sri Venkateswara University

The Department of Education of Sri Venkateswara University was established in the year 1971. From the academic year (1971-72), M.Ed course for one year was commenced with an intake of 10 students. As per the Norms of the National Council for Teacher per the Norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), with Inter Semester Break (ISB) the duration of M.Ed course has become two years with an intake of 50 students. The Department since its inception, has been working to promote Teaching, Research and Extension activities. Research guidance was provided for Ph.D. Candidates since 1971. So far 116 Ph.D. and 76 M.Phil. Degrees were awarded. Completed number of Major and Minor Research Projects. Number of National and International level Seminars, Workshops, In-service training programmes were organised. Some of the Faculty members visited foreign countries on academic grounds. Academic Guidance and Counselling services were rendered to the needy. The department has Educational Psychology and Education Technology labs in order to enrich the students academically and professionally. The library is fully equipped with more than 4000 volumes consisting of text books, reference books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, journals, magazines, Educational Research abstracts, Ph.D, M.Phil, M.Ed. dissertations, dailies etc., to enrich the students’ knowledge. ...view more
