Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology (CCOST)

he Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology (CCOST), was established in 19th January 2001 under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Chhattisgarh (C.G.). It is an autonomous body, which has been registered under the Ch omous body, which has been registered under the Chhattisgarh Societies Registration Act 1973. The Council was formerly notified in the state gazette vide no. 303-Ä dated 31/10/2002. The General Body of the Council is chaired by the Chief Minister of the State. The Council is dedicated to promote, popularize and support scientific activities in the state and is working towards identifying newer areas where latest scientific knowledge and modern technology could be harnessed for all round development of the state and supporting the state agencies in their endeavour. With the objective of addressing the Intellectual Property Rights in the state and for creating awareness amongst academicians, researchers and innovators the Council has established Intellectual Property Right Centre under which the following structures are created: Patent Information Centre, Patent Information Centre, Grassroot Innovation Augmentation Network Cell and, Innovation Fund programmes. Patent Information Centre has been established with the assistance of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science and Technology GOI on 18th December 2002. Grassroot Innovation Augmentation Network Cell (GIAN) has been functional with the support of National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad To support and promote innovation in the state, Council has established Innovation Fund programme where in financial assistance is extended for prototype development and scientific inputs are facilitated by means of making available the equipped work centres in the established academic and R&D institutions of the state. ...view more
