About Bishop Abraham Memorial College (B.A.M. COLLEGE)

Bishop Abraham Memorial College started its dedicated service to the cause of higher education on 28th June 1965. The college is named after Bishop Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan, the saintly soul who dedicated his life for spreading the values of t o dedicated his life for spreading the values of the Kingdom of God. It is owned by the Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust Association registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act (Act XII of 1955 as S No. 3 of 1965). Far from the maddening crowd of towns and cities, still unpolluted with the infiltration of the vile and vicious influences, the B. A. M. College is perched upon a lovely hill. In the near distance twists and flows river Manimala, a silver stream in an abundant sea of undulating green. The peaceful and rural atmosphere has been a stage setter for the unique formation that we stand for. We have been insisting on the integral development of the person through education. While giving a free rein of thought, we make the students understand eternal truths which are far beyond the flights and falls of intellect. The college is eligible to get financial assistance from UGC as it is included under Section 2(f) and is declared fit to receive central assistance under Section 12 (B) of UGC Act, 1956 as per approved pattern of assistance under various schemes. The college is receiving infrastructure grant under RUSA 2.0 scheme. Currently, we are in the third cycle of accreditation by NAAC. Bishop Abraham Memorial College started its dedicated service to the cause of higher education on 28th June 1965. The College is named after Bishop Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan, the saintly soul who dedicated his life for spreading the values of the Kingdom of God. The college was founded by Late Rev. Dr. T. C. George a selfless true follower of Jesus Christ in memory of his Uncle and Mentor Bishop Abraham Marthoma Metropolitan. He along with six other visionaries belonging to multiple Christian Denominations formed a group called Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust. This entity was registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act on April 28, 1965 as Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust Association who is the owner and Educational Agency of this college. During the years of service, the college has opened and continues to open new vistas of knowledge in our efforts to empower the rural youth through education. We celebrated our silver jubilee in 1990, the then Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mr. Shivaraj Patil was the chief guest in the valedictory function. Golden Jubilee was celebrated in 2015. Chief Minister Mr. Ommen Chandy inaugurated the jubilee celebrations. As part of the jubilee celebrations, college organized Academic Seminars, Outreach Programmes and a National Science Exhibition. An auditorium large enough to accommodate the entire students and faculty was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee. The college offers one Ph. D. Programme, four Postgraduate Programmes and eight Undergraduate Programmes.
