Established in 1965, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sheth R. A. College of Arts and Commerce has two faculties Commerce and Arts and 12 departments: English, Economics, Gujarati, Psychology, Sociology, Commerce, Statistics, Sanskrit, Persian, French, Ind mmerce, Statistics, Sanskrit, Persian, French, Indian Diaspora and Computer Science. It runs programs for B.A., B.Com., M.A., M.Com, M.Phil., and Ph.D. It has been awarded by UGC the highest prestigious grants for College with Potential for Excellence (CPE). It has research scholars for M.Phil and PhD from India and abroad under different faculties. It’s marked as Model College by Gujarat Higher Education department in CBCS. It’s reaccredited with a grade of (B) 2.66 by NAAC in 2014 .Today the college has 9 MOUs with National and International Universities. It is constantly rated as one of the top institutions in the country by leading Magazines of India like India Today and The Week. The college has a squad of national and international players. Today the students are representing national, State and University in sport and games like Rifle Shooting, Tennis, Soft Ball, Cycling and cricket. The student of college Elanevil V. is selected to represent India in Olympics 2020-21 for 10 meters Rifle shooting. She is also rated as the Player of the year by Govt. of India. At present she is the World rank number one player. It hosts a number of foreign students in Undergraduate, Post graduate Research Programs from all over the world. The college also looks after most prestigious department of Institute of International Studies, Institute of Indic Studies, Center for Diaspora and Migration research and Center for International relations at Gujarat University. The college is the recipient of SSIP grants from Government of Gujarat for Innovation and Start-up initiatives. The college was awarded Start-up College of the year award in 2019. Today its students have their registered companies and trademark for their ventures. For two consecutive years college students have been selected for very prestigious Indo-Japan students Cultural exchange program for Gujarat University. The college has in-house publishing, in-house E-Content recording facilities, Two mega state of smart auditoriums, 100 % virtual academic, administrative and financial management systems The Principal of the college Dr N Gupta has received a number of prestigious national awards. She is appointed as advisor of Atma Nirbhar Bharat for Madhya Pradesh Government. She is also member of a number of extremely prestigious national Committees and Boards. The college has extremely competent faculty, engaged in research and academic development. A number of faculty members are members of BOS in State and National Universities. The college through Disaster Management Services contributed in Gujarat Earthquake, Kashmir Floods and Uttrakhand Disaster. The college was invited by Canadian Government for University visits. It has 4th generation devices facilitated 400 seat auditorium and 150 seat seminar hall.
