Not many educational Societies have felt the need or the urge for what in common parlance is called an Evening College. When most Education Institution Managements, dazzled by visions of Prestigious professional colleges succumbed to their lure, Wome rofessional colleges succumbed to their lure, Women’s National Education Society displayed extra ordinary initiative and enterprise, courage and conviction coupled with concern and compassion for the less privileged youth, who would have been denied higher education in the normal course. With Besant Evening College, Women’s National Education Society added a new dimension to their sole staunch champions of education deviating their single minded focus on women’s education and the decades old pre-occupation with it. Besant Evening College founded on a noble ideal and the first co-education institution sponsored by Women’s National Education Society in the year 1976 by late Manel Srinivas Nayak to provide educational opportunities to employed youth. With the motto of ‘Learn while they Earn’, Besant Evening College charges reasonably low fees and admits students who have limited economic resources.The college was declare open in the month of October 1976. Indeed Besant Evening College owes much to the missionary zeal of visionaries like Late Manel Srinivas Nayak, the founder President, Late B. Damodar Prabhu and Late Manel Krishna Nayak, the former presidents and many more who endeavoured to build this edifice of learning.The professional courses in the current scenario are in great demand. Such professional courses need special assistance to the aspirants. The Besant Evening college offers B.Com and also coaching for professional courses. The College is the ultimate destination for such aspirants of Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost and Management Accountant.(CMA) and Company Secretary (CS) Courses. The college has a Memorandum of Understanding with KVC Academy for providing professional coaching to the aspirants of CA, CMA and CS. The college also provides coaching for the competitive exams like banking, CAT, MAT etc. The college, thus, strives to help aspirants of professional courses to realise their dreams of becoming successful professionals. Besant Evening College is a grant-in aid College recognised by the UGC under 2(f) and 12B. The college is centrally located in the city of Mangaluru at M.G Road Kodialbail.
