To realize the vision of the architect of the Constitution of India, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar; To achieve the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India viz. Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity among the peoples of our nation; To uplift the di among the peoples of our nation; To uplift the disadvantaged sections of the society, from the vortex of blind faith, superstition, communal hatred, caste bias, To obliterate disparity based on sects or gender and develop brotherhood, Scientific temperament and Communal harmony, the Government of Maharashtra in Cultural Affairs, Sports & Tourism Department, vide No. UTA, 1078 / D-XXV dated 22nd December, 1978 established “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samata Vichar Peeth”. This Samta Peeth started functioning on 12th March 1979 from the premises of Mahatma Phule Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd, Mumbai. By Govt. order, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samata Vichar Peeth was relocated to Pune at the present address- 28, Queens Garden, Pune, on 11th February 1987. The said organization, subsequently, became autonomous, under its present name- Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research & Training Institute (BARTI), Pune, the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, Govt. of Maharashtra in the year 2008. This Institute is committed to the cause of equality and social justice through scientific research, evaluation of schemes meant for socially disadvantaged sections, policy advocacy, training, skills development etc. Vide Govt. of Maharashtra, Social Justice and Special Assistance Department Resolution No. AaPraSa- 2005/ Case No. 383/ MAVAKA dated 30.4.2008, approval has been granted for registration under the Indian Society Registration Act, 1860 and Indian Public Trusts Act, 1950 to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research & Training Institute, Pune, and thus, the name of the society came to be known as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research & Training Institute, (BARTI), Pune, having its registered office at 28, Queens Garden, Near Old Circuit House, Pune – 411 001. Director General, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research & Training Institute (BARTI) is appointed as the Chief Coordinator of Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committees in the state. There Committees are established to scrutinize the Caste claims of SCs, VJ, NT, OBC and SBC. Accordingly, the Director General has effective administrative control of fifteen Divisional Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committees. BARTI has started large scale trainings and other works like: Empowerment of marginalized and weaker sections of the society Evaluation of various welfare measures and projects implemented by the Govt. for such disadvantaged sections of the society Contribute to the field of Equality and Social Justice through policy recommendations, advice and training programs. The year 2013 is of great significance to BARTI. A hundred years ago, in 1913, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the genius behind the Indian Constitution, journeyed to Columbia University, New York for postgraduate studies. This journey ignited one of the finest human minds in the quest to blaze a path to equality for all Indians. In grateful commemoration of this eventful journey, BARTI undertook various welfare projects for the socially disadvantaged sections of the society. Objectives in Brief To maintain and develop the Samata Peeth as Research and Training Institution. To work in the area of Social Planning and Evaluation, particularly for Scheduled Castes and other weaker sections of the society. To conduct Scientific Research in various spheres of Equity and Social Justice. To Train Young People for improving their knowledge in all spheres of Social Sciences, Equity and Social Justice. To provide and arrange for Studies, Exchange of ideas and experiences and for promotion of Better understanding among the various sections of the societies. To improve Brotherhood amongst the various sections of societies and promote National Integration. To institute and award Fellowships to the students of the down-trodden communities and poverty group. To undertake Research and Training activities pertaining to various fields including: Social Justice, Equity, Equality, Role of Social Reformers in bringing about Social Equality, to undertake Surveys & Evaluation of various schemes. To institute, offer and grant prizes, awards, scholarships, stipends in furtherance of the above objectives. To organize conferences, lectures, seminars, etc to promote aforesaid objectives. To undertake and provide for the Publication of books, journals, periodicals and research papers in furtherance of the avowed objectives. To undertake various programmes and activities related to Equity, Social Justice, Brotherhood, Removal of Caste bias, Developing Scientific Temperament, Ethics and Moral Values and Scientific Research in these areas. To act as a Consultancy and Extension Services Agency. To Appeal to the public through media, Newspapers and personal letters, for liberal donation and charity to meet expenditure towards various projects for socially disadvantage sections of the society ...view more
