ASPEE SHAKILAM Biotechnology Institute was established as Gujarat Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (GABI) in April 2012 with the financial aid of Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, Government of Gujarat in the available building of unive ment of Gujarat in the available building of university at Athwa Farm, Surat. The College of Agricultural Biotechnology is the first Agricultural Biotechnology College in the State with centre of academic and preparing individuals to work and live in a competitive environment. In the year 2015-16 new building was constructed with the infrastructural facility. This institute was renamed as ASPEE SHAKILAM Agri. Biotechnology Institute (ASABI). ASPEE shakilam biotechnology Institute is engaged in teaching at under gradauate level and offer B. Tech. (Biotechnology) degree. At the same time it focuses on the research aspects involving biotechnological applications for the betterment of agriculture and sustainable environment. This institute also offers certificate course for women in the field of plant tissue culture and train them to develop skill and entrepreneurship. The institute has adopted 5th Deans’ committee recommendation. As per 5th Deans’ committee report, the institute has four main departments namely Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Microbial and Environmental Biotechnology and Bioinformatics section with qualified faculties. The institutes provides various facilities like state of art instruments, laboratory facilities, library, E-lab etc. Also, it is achieving the significant recognition for its high quality of teaching. We offer an environment that is full of resources for the students to develop their skill as well as thinking ability to utilize biotechnological tools in elucidating the molecular basic of plant, animal and microbial life processes. Here, institute also give a equal opportunity and exposure to different co-curricular activities like, NSS, Sports, Cultural events etc. to develop students skill, physical, social and psychological fitness. Institute provides the opportunity to upgrade skill for entrepreneurship development to the graduate.
