Arya College Ludhiana, recently accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with Grade A, is a premier institution committed to providing Quality Higher Education while instilling a respect and love for the nation and its r illing a respect and love for the nation and its rich culture. It owes its inception in 1946 to a few dedicated and farsighted members of Arya Samaj came together in 1945 and pooled their wisdom to undertake the venture of opening a college to cater to the educational needs of the area. They set out with a missionary zeal to raise funds for the college. They not only made liberal financial contributions but also reached out to the people to get them involved in their mission. Their relentless efforts fructified in 1946, when Arya College came into existence. When education for women became the need of the hour, a separate girls wing of the college was started in 1970. New faculties were added from time to time. At present, there are under graduate courses in the faculties of Arts, Science, Computer Science, Commerce and Business Management. There are Post-Graduate courses of M.A. (History, Political Science and Punjabi), M.Sc. (IT), M.Com. and PGDCA. For the convenience of the students who pursue B.Com. and C.A. simultaneously, early morning classes have been started. Arya College is the only institution in Ludhiana which runs these classes. If the college has contributed significantly to the cause of education and social uplift, its students have also not lagged behind in bringing laurels to the college and the country. Its alumni have spread the values they imbibed in the college and have made their mark in various fields of academics, sports, politics, business and administration. Sh. Sunil Bharti Mittal (of Bharti Airtel Fame), one of the top ten businessmen of the country, Sh. Pankaj Kapoor, a renowned film actor, and a good number of political leaders like S. Sharnjit Singh Dhillon, Olympians like S. Sukhbir Singh Grewal and S. Hardeep Singh Grewal, International weight lifters like Sh. Parvesh Kumar and Cricketers like Sh. Yash Pal Sharma, Sh. Balkar Singh Sandhu (Mayor), Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu (Cabinet Minister) have brightened the name of the country on the horizons of the world. The college offers three year degree courses in Arts, Science (Medical & Non-Medical), Commerce, Computer Science & Applications, Business Administration, Human Rights and two years post graduate courses in History, Political Science, M.Com., M.Sc. (IT) and one year course in PGDCA. The Inception of Girls Section Deriving inspiration from Maharishi Dayananad Saraswat, the great protagonist of women’s emancipation, the Managing Committee of Arya College, Ludhiana embarked upon a progressive venture in the field of women eduction in 1970. With a view to catering to the ever growing needs of education of girl students of the region, a separate girls section was started to enable them to pursue their studies independently. The Girls Section of the college is centrally located in Civil Lines on Maharishi Dayanand Road, adjoining Old Dayanand Medical College. The college has a protected campus, conducive environment, well ventilated and spacious class rooms, well stocked library and well equipped Home Science Labs. Its well maintained lawns give an attractive look to the campus. Cafeteria is also one of the attractions. Water coolers fitted with aqua guards provide pure drinking water. A high power generator has been installed for uninterrupted supply of electricity in the class rooms. The college aims at harmonious all round development of the students in the field of art, literature, science, commerce, computer education, games, sports, co-curricular and youth activities.
