Alagappa Institute of Technology (AIT)

The Alagappa Institute of Technology (AIT) is a service-oriented institution with the primary focus on providing education in emerging academic disciplines, vocational programs and in the field of performing arts. It was found in September 2001 by Mr forming arts. It was found in September 2001 by Mr. R. Vairavan, grandson of Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar, the founder of the Alagappa Schools, Colleges and the Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. AIT is an integral part of the Alagappa group of Institutions that are actively involved in primary, collegiate and post graduate education. Alagappa Institute of Information Technology (AIIT) is the Information Technology division of the group that provides educational courses representing the latest in information technology to meet the needs of our community. These efforts have already been recognized by leading Universities in South India such as the Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu Pondicherry University, Pondicherry Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai Anna University, Chennai Madras University, Chennai These institutions have awarded AIIT, the status of Study Center, Personal Contact Programs (PCP) center, Information Center, for their undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. AIIT further imparts computer training to more than 1500 Alagappa school students every year and has been successful in providing training to more than1000 students in information technology. AIT has its headquarters in Chennai and has established subsidiaries in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, Jamshedpur, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It is actively enhancing its educational programs and as well participating in a number of challenging IT projects in various disciplines for domestic and international clients. Our mission is to provide a wide spectrum of educational programs representing the latest in information technology that are beneficial to our students and the community to enhance their skill set and to enable them to meet the growing needs of the industry. Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar was a visionary who believed that education was an absolute necessity for a human being to become productive, wholesome and humane. Responding to the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s call to industrialists to set up educational institutions, he was quick to set up a cluster of educational institutions which today form the core of the Alagappa University in Karaikudi. A host of eminent personalities from Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, to Presidents of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, to industrialists and royalty such as the Mysore Maharajah, have graced the inauguration of various Alagappa Institutions with their presence. AIT, located in the heart of the Alagappa Schools campus in Chennai was officially inaugurated on 19th November, 1999 by the then Education Minister of Tamil Nadu Prof. Anbazhagan and has since emerged as a Centre of Excellence in education. AIIT has been designed to provide an academic ambience, conducive for learning. The Institute in Chennai and Karaikudi has been equipped with state of the art hardware and software, which clearly distinguish it from the rest of such centers in the city.
