akshmibayamma. His wife was Smt. Sitamma. He was a spiritual- inded serene personality with staunch devotion to the Lotus Feet of Lord Sri Rama.
He was humble and led a simple life. He was childless. He was deeply perturbed when he came to know about the Government resolution to auction the historical Green Jade Locket [Pachala Pathakam], an ornament fondly submitted to Lord Seethamma by Bhakta Ramadas. He came forward to donate the amount needed for the establishment of a degree college to Khammam town and accordingly requested the authorities to withdraw the proposal for auction. While this episode reflects his peerless devotion to his lord, his proposal to name the college after Lord Sri Rama, and not his own, further testifies his humbleness and submissive nature. Thus this college was finally inaugurated in the name of both the Lord and His unassailable devotee too in 1956.
Yet another magnanimous gesture worth mentioning is the presentation of a 100-toula gold plate to Lord Sri Rama of Bhadrachalam Temple. Annually that very plate has been used to offer ‘naivedyam’ to the Lord on the ‘Mukkoti’ and the Sri Ram Navami festival days. He was instrumental in numberless social activities such as providing education to the downtrodden and performing marriages to girls belonging to poor families.
Late Sri Gentela Narayana Rao continues to be cherished by not only the students and faculty members of the college, but also the public in the vicinity of Khammam district as personification of simplicity, philanthropy and the noble virtues he stood for. A statue was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education. Dr. K. Lakshminarayana, IAS on 06- 09-2007 at the entrance of the college.
It gives me immense pleasure to share a few ideas with you in this context. I am aware that, the word "Message" may sound rather a bit verbose to some on this occasion. The truth is, in the absence of any other substitute for it, one has to fall back upon it invariably. Therefore, I hope the viewers of the site would take a soft line about this trivial detail and pay serious attention to the substantive issue at hand. The history of S.R.&B.G.N.R. College is as old as Khammam district. It is one of the premier colleges in the Telangana state. Its alumni have been doing wonders in different fields. The college is vibrant and a hub of intellectual activity, It is a temple for learning , where the young are taught the very spirit of the constitution of the country by a dedicated band of the teaching fraternity. It is a college, where the students are taught that they have stake in the system, ipsofacto, they have to be serious learners both academic and societal. No effort is spared to sensitize them about the many social evils of the country and how best they could do their part to root out them to make this country a really democratic one, not only in form but also in essence.
The Motto of the college is "Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve". It aims at producing "autonomous learners" who turn out as independent, self-contained, confident human resource to the nation.
To provide revised, need based, value oriented courses.
To hone the communication and soft skills among the students for their all- round personality
development.
To prepare students industry-ready by imparting necessary analytical, technical and managerial skills.
To bring out the latent talents of the students in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
To produce global citizens with multiple skills Mission.
A cultivated youth is the potential of the society. Since every brick ought to be qualitative and strong in nation building the SR&BGNR Govt. Arts &Science College, Khammam aims at producing "autonomous learners" who turn out as independent, self-contained, confident human resource to the nation. So the innocent, ignorant, tribal and economically backward young boys and girls of the College "Enter to Learn and Leave to Serve". The strong and substantial Alumni of the College are testifying the fact.
