Veerendra Heggade was established in the year 2006 under the auspice of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society ® armasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society ® Ujire / Dharwad. SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad is now one of the leading Institutes in Karnataka, set with high standards to learn and practice the profession of Nursing with a vision. The Institute is heading towards excellence under the able leadership and patronage of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Niranjan Kumar and Smt. Padmalata Niranjan, Executive Director & Member - Board of Governors. The Institution is located in the midway of Hubballi and Dharwad Twin Cities and is attached to Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Medical Sciences & Hospital Campus, spread over 80 acres of serene lush green land, well connected by Air, Road and Rail. At this Institute we offer THREE programs recognized by Government of Karnataka, approved by Karnataka State Nursing Council - Bangalore, Indian Nursing Council - New Delhi and affiliated to Karnataka State Diploma Nursing Examination Board, Bangalore and Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad. Master of Science in Nursing [M.Sc. Nursing] in all FIVE specialties Bachelor of Science in Nursing [B.Sc. Nursing] Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery [DGNM] The FOURTH program General Duty Healthcare Assistant Course [GDHA] is launched by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad in the year 2020. It is a bridge course to reduce the burden of non-nursing activities on Nurses and provide employment opportunity to economically weaker section, whose dream is to contribute to human care and lead life with dignity. The Institute has all the facilities housed in independent building and meets the standard norms of Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. Full-fledged simulation laboratories and well-furnished library "AKSHARA" is the hallmark of the Institute. Hands on clinical experience to the students of our Institute are provided in 1200 bedded state of art parent Medical College Hospital, Rural Health Training Centre and Urban Health Training Centre. Students of this Institute are fortunate to have an amalgamation of interdisciplinary approach in the teaching and learning process. To achieve this we coordinate with all the constituent units of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University namely SDM College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, SDM College of Physiotherapy and SDM Research Institute for Biomedical Sciences, which helps our students to have three dimensional growth and equipping them to prove themselves in every aspects of global market. The profession of Nursing is continually evolving in conjunction with health needs and demands of consumers. There is a rapid transformation occurring in health care system to provide optimum quality care leading to improved health outcomes and Nurses play a significant role in this. Nurses are focusing on new areas of practice; the profession is also emerging into macro and micro specialties. Hence the professionals have ample opportunities to climb on career ladder from bedside Nurse to Educationist, Research Scientist and Administrator. They can diversify different areas of Nursing Practice such as Nurse Counsellor, Nurse Advocate, Nurse Teacher, Nurse administrator, Airline Ambulance and Airline Industry, Nurse Practioner, Nurse Educationist and Nurse Specialist such as operating room, Critical care department, Mental Health, Industrial Health, School Health, Women and Child Health.
