According to the latest estimate by World Health Organization, close to 8,00,000 people die by suicide every year. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death from adolescence to middle age. Almost everyone who attempts suicide has given some clue,
everyone who attempts suicide has given some clue, sometimes even in the form of jokes, which may indicate serious suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Most depressed and suicidal people have mixed feelings about death. Due to the social stigma surrounding mental illness, people feeling suicidal often do not reach out for help. They want to end their pain, not their lives. If they are given the help that they need, the impulse to end their lives can pass.

To provide a private space where callers are listened to empathetically and without judgement.
To fight the stigma obstructing people from seeking professional help on time.
To spread awareness about the early signs of mental illness and providing social support to psychological patients.
To provide counselling services to those undergoing treatment for mental illness.
To promote positive psychology and encouraging constructive alternatives to cope with day to day life challenges.
The recruitment panel had one common idea about their dream team- it should be working out of passion and not out of obligation. Till date, one common observation with regards to the team is their strong intention to assist the urgency of the caller, winning over every odd and crisis. The counsellors’ readiness to work in shifts of odd hours, irrespective of their personal commitments, incredibly demonstrates their dedication towards this important cause.
Moreover, our counsellors optimistically and courageously deal with some of the more sensitive issues prevailing in our society within closed doors and among the family. Issues like childhood abuse, self-injury, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies are just a few to mention.
Despite of being M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates and holders, our counsellors aim to continuously upgrade their knowledge regarding mental illnesses and psychotherapies by attending seminars and watching educational videos. We are happy to announce that the attrition rate at out helpline is zero.
Telephonic counselling is a type of counselling done over the phone. A study found that more than half of the clients that were part of it preferred telephonic counselling to other forms of counselling [Reese, R. J., Conoley, C. W., & Brossart, D. F. (2006). The attractiveness of telephone counseling: An empirical investigation of client perceptions. Journal of Counseling & Development, 84(1), 54-60]. Telephonic counselling has proved to be very effective in the treatment process of depression and anxiety.
