This college, established on 4 September 1964 as Arts and Commerce College by 'Bhatapara Shiksha Mandal', an institution of enthusiastic and dedicated personalities towards higher education, is organizing a golden jubilee celebration while completing the golden journey of 50 years. The college building and huge campus came up with the courtesy of such leading people of the city as Shri Ram Narayan Shukla, Shri Balabhadra Prasad Shukla, Shri Balram Bhai, Shri Radheshyam Purohit, Shri Thakur Parmeshwar Singh, Shri Rampratap Chandak, Shri Mata Deen Agarwal, Shri Gajanand Agarwal, Dr. L. Jeevanmal, Shri Gulabchand Agarwal, Shri Shiv Prasad Agarwal etc. In this series, there was invaluable support of many donors of the city like Gyarsi Lal Agarwal, Haji Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Yakub. This college is the first affiliated college of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur, while inaugurating it, the first Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Baburam Saxena called this college the first adopted son of his university. This private college was brought under the administration of the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 01 January 1975. Science faculty was started in the college from 1982. In 2007, the college received recognition as a postgraduate college. Under the current infrastructure of the college, the college has about 21.38 acres of land, three academic buildings, library building, girls hostel and a large sports complex. An auditorium (450 seater costing about 4.33 crores) is under construction. At present, the college has proper arrangements for study and teaching in three faculties- Arts, Commerce and Science. There are postgraduate classes in a total of eight subjects- Hindi, English, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Commerce, Chemistry and Mathematics. PGDCA course is also being conducted by Jan Bhagidari Samiti. Research Centre in Hindi subject was established from 01 September 2013. Excellent educational and academic environment under the efficient teaching and guidance of capable and dedicated professors, excellent examination results, obtaining research degrees and organizing and participating in national-international seminars are the notable achievements of the college. This college is registered with the University Grants Commission under Section 2(F) and 12(B). Girls hostel was constructed at a cost of 80 lakhs from UGC fund and Sports Complex and RUSA at a cost of 70 lakhs, 14 additional rooms from State Government fund (2.40 crores) and new facilities for lab have been created from 70 lakhs. And under the Eleventh Five Year Plan, an amount of Rs. 32,38,333 was received from various funds for basic facilities. Important activities are conducted in the college under sports, National Service Scheme, Eco Club and Red Cross.
