ESI-Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Manicktala, Kolkata saw the first rays of sun shine when ESI Corporation, in the wake of its forthcoming Golden Jubilee Celebration, decided to sharpen up medical benefits for insured families further by creating ESIC’s own centers of excellence and also decided to add a new benefit to existing ones by creating ways and avenues so that dependents of insured person get opportunity to study medicine as part of their career. ESIC decided to establish multiple medical institutions across the country in a phase wise manner, and ESI-PGIMSR, Manicktala is one such fruit of those blooming ventures of activities. To cater to the academic need as per MCI guidelines and keeping it in mind the requirement of a tertiary care referral model hospital, ESI-PGIMSR has started equipping itself with state of the art facilities both for patient care, education and research activities. It has started Post Graduate program (MD) in Pathology and Anesthesiology from session 2013.
To accomplish these goals, the ESI hospital, Manicktala has been upgraded not only to a Model Hospital from service point of view, but has also been restructured with new facilities like additional recruitment of office staff members, establishments of central as well as departmental library, department office room, seminar rooms, faculty room including offices for Head of each Department, Resident Doctors’ discussion room, department tutorial room, Museums, Resident Doctoron-on-call duty room, Resident Doctors’ hostels and academic administrative complex providing office spaces for Dean, Registrar (academics) and other administrative staffs.
