Thiru. N.T.S. Arumugam Pillai, our founder, hailing from Tiruppattur, a socially and educationally backward area, migrated to Malaysia to earn his fortune and became a business magnet and rose to eminence in Malaysia. The King of Malaysia honored him ence in Malaysia. The King of Malaysia honored him with the highest title of the country, namely AMN in recognition of his generosity and philanthropy. Following the footsteps of their ancestors, our President Thiru.N.Vasantharajan has brought tremendous pride to our institution as he has been bestowed with the prestigious Dato award by the Malaysian Government. Adding a Gem to the Crown, the International Achievers’ Conference, New Delhi, has honored our beloved Secretary Thiru.N.Rameswaran with International Achievers award. Holding the conviction that education is the key to open the doors of upliftment, he started this College in July 1965 and thereby brought the unknown and unheard Tiruppattur in the educational map of Tamilnadu. Born out of his benevolence, our College has made it possible for the poor people of Tiruppattur to gain access to the portals of higher education. The magnificent building like a temple, speaks of the noble and selfless desire of our beloved founder that this citadel of learning could withstand the test of time and cater to the educational needs of the poor and downtrodden of Tiruppattur and its neighborhood century after century. But for this College, it would not have been possible for the people of Tiruppattur especially women to get higher education. The uniqueness for our College is reflected by the fact that it was accorded the status of First Grade College even in the year of insertion itself by offering PUC and Degree courses – B.A. Economics and B.Sc. Mathematics. The usual practice in 1960s was that in the beginning year, the College was permitted to start only PUC and then Degree courses in the succeeding years. Under the able stewardship of our beloved founder and his family members, our College has been making big strides for the past 59 years in all spheres of its activities, especially in academic programmes, enrolment of students and number of Degree holders. The quality higher education in a disciplined academic ambience is no wonder the attraction of students to our College. Thus our College has earned the recognition as the best College in Sivagangai District and one among the reputed Colleges in Tamilnadu. The academic programmes of our college fall in line with our institution’s goal and objectives. The first objective of our institution to provide quality higher education to the people of this rural area is fulfilled by establishing a college in the year 1965 itself and providing a number of UG and PG programmes since then. Another goal of uplifting the socially oppressed community may be gleaned from the fact that a majority of our students belong to the socially disadvantaged sect. Yet another goal of empowering the women through education may be mirrored from the fact that for the past five academic years, the strength of the girls is out numbering the boys.Through Village Adoption Programmes and Extension Activities, our students carry over various community oriented programmes like literacy, hygiene and sanitation, rain water harvesting and scientific agriculture. As far as curricula development is concerned, our college being an affiliated College doesn’t have to frame curricula on its own. In spite of this fact, some of our faculty members, in the capacity of the members of the Board of Studies actively involve themselves in framing curricula to meet the needs of the society and to have relevance to the regional, national and global trends. Under Choice Based Credit System, Value education, Environmental studies and Computer aided courses have been made as a part of the syllabus to cater to current needs.
