Public Policy making can be characterized as a dynamic, complex and interactive system through which public problems are identified and addressed by creating new public policy. Public problems that influence public policymaking can be of economic, political or of social nature. Public Policy analysis requires students to understand the tools and principles taught in Political Science as well as Economics and to integrate that learning in order to pursue goals whose values are based in moral and political philosophy.
Practice of policy formulations, Public Policy in particular, had remained an exclusive preserve of leaders and bureaucrats through top down prescriptions. However, concurrent to such practices, India of yore is slowly, surely and almost imperceptibly, going through tectonic changes wherein through a process of creeping assertion, people have started imposing their will quite loud and clear. The people of the country are much enlightened lot with high level of aspirations. The civil society is playing predominant role in influencing policy making process as a peoples’ voice, for the benefit of all stakeholders of society.
