X-band Multi channel Transmit/Downconverter module with Calibration feature for the RADAR system

Abstract

This paper presents the salient design features & implementation of a X-band Multi channel Transmit/Down converter with Calibration feature required for the RADAR system. The module consist of 3 channels wherein during receive each channel gets in microwave signals in X Band, and double down converts to IF signal using LO1 & LO2 signals. These IF signals are sent to Signal processing unit for further processing. The key features of these channels are excellent image rejection, close phase matching & good channel to channel isolation. For the transmit path the module takes in a signal in X Band, amplifies it & then distributes through all RF channels. The module also has a MSTC, AGC, Digital Phase shifter & Doppler phase shifter in each channel. Module was designed & tested successfully to meet all the required specifications.
