Abstract
Although the FDA postulates an unmet medical need, the "disorder" of sexual apathy is controversially discussed in clinical practice and research. The only problem is the fact that there is no consensus on the definition of sexual desire. Sexual desire and sexual behavior are not necessarily related. People can be sexually active without feeling desire and/or are not sexually active despite having a strong sexual desire (Brotto 2010). Furthermore, there is no clear connection between sexual desire and sexual satisfaction. Study results suggest that sexual satisfaction in women is relatively independent of the extent of their daily sexual desire (Brotto 2010).
