Abstract
Some sexologists support the hypothesis that pedophilic sexual interests cannot be changed by behavioral therapy techniques. The aim of this study is therefore to systematically analyze the results of influencing pedophilic sexual interests using masturbatory techniques. A total of 17 studies with 179 male subjects were included. Seven studies with a total of eight subjects reported the successful development of age-appropriate interests. Eleven studies with 61 participants reported the reduction of pedophilic sexual interests. Due to methodological problems, the scientific quality of the findings is severely limited. The results of the literature search are discussed with regard to future research and the hypothesis that pedophilic interests cannot be changed.
