Abstract
Environmental offenses are intensifying, exerting pressure on the criminal justice systems of many nations, particularly those in the southern hemisphere. This research focuses on the significant environmental challenges that Bangladesh faces due to rapid urbanization, limited resources, and industrial growth. The study emphasizes how human actions exacerbate biodiversity loss and pollution within the framework of environmental laws and the duties of environmental bodies and policing authorities. Aiming to bridge the divide between environmental sustainability and economic development in Bangladesh, the paper evaluates the current legal structures and advocates for a robust legal system that incorporates community participation, stringent enforcement, and accountability for polluters. By examining environmental laws and governance from a multidisciplinary perspective, this paper offers essential insights and directions for the future.
