Abstract
In the times of global warming, climate change, deforestation, rising pollution levels, etc. one prominent concept which deserves immediate attention is to find longterm and effective solutions to nurture and preserve our natural ecosystems and resources for the posterity. This article analyses the role of geographical indications as a collective intellectual property right in fostering harmonious relations with our natural environment and as a tool towards achieving economic development. This article also analyses how the role of government is indispensable to accomplish the goals of environmental sustainability and economic growth.
