Abstract

The study examined final-year pre-service science teachers'perceptions of the impact of the availability and utilisation of science laboratory facilities on final-year pre-service science teachers'pedagogical content knowledge in science at the Accra and Ada Colleges of Education in the Greater Accra Metropolis of Ghana. The findings revealed that moderate availability and efficient utilisation of science laboratory facilities have had a positive impact on the teacher trainees' pedagogical content knowledge in science at the Ada College of Education. On the contrary, the inadequate availability and inefficient utilisation of science laboratory facilities have had a neutral impact on the trainees'pedagogical content knowledge in science at the Accra College of Education. It was recommended that the government of Ghana and other stakeholders in science teacher education should provide modern and adequate laboratory facilities at the Accra and Ada Colleges of Education to ensure the production of competent science teachers to effectively teach science at the basic school level in Ghana.
