Abstract
Dr. Travis Kong, one of the editors of Sexualities, interviewed British feminist Prof. Stevi Jackson in December 2017. This personal and engaging interview touches upon Jackson's own position as a materialist feminist, her recent shift to researching East Asian sexuality, her views on the global knowledge system, and her reflection on her academic career, which has been devoted to gender and sex- uality studies. Travis: In your early days, you identified as a materialist feminist. What is a materialist feminist, and do you still identify as such? Stevi: The materialist feminism that has influenced me [is] French materialist feminism. French materialist feminists self-defined as radical feminists but used a kind of Marxist methodology to analyse women's subordination, so certainly not taking a biblical approach to Marx. Christine Delphy is one of them, possibly the most well-known along with Monique Wittig, although Wittig had differences with Delphy in certain crucial respects, particularly around political lesbianism.
