Abstract
This paper explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) driven smart manufacturing using automation and robotics for energy efficiency and waste reduction to facilitate sustainable production. This study discusses the concept of smart production by leveraging advanced technologies to optimize the benefits accruable to the manufacturing sector. Case studies and empirical data are employed to demonstrate how autonomous mobile robots, predictive maintenance, and intelligent energy management systems foster reduced energy consumption and waste. Findings show the significant potential of AI-driven smart manufacturing to ensure efficient energy consumption and minimize waste while emphasizing the potential of automation and robotics to reshape the future of production processes. Despite these advancements, challenges like the workforce skill gap, high cost of implementation, and regulatory barriers remain, but there are ways to overcome these obstacles such as focusing on the importance of policy support, stakeholder engagement, and workforce training.
