Principal Technical Program Manager

Oracle Corporation · September 2023 - Present
Leading a team of five network engineers and data scientists in developing a backbone simulator tool. Currently conducting weekly analysis of failure scenarios to identify network risks and latency issues, facilitating cross-team RFC meetings for iterative feedback integration, significantly improving the tool's effectiveness. Introducing an UI for ad-hoc simulations within the existing platform, allowing for on-demand network edits (links, capacity, routers, regions), topology saves for future use, and the execution of both pre-built and customized failure scenarios. These simulations are designed to offer precise network failure impact assessments, focusing on network capacity, SRLG, and link failures. Spearheading a major $5 million+ project to boost backbone metro capacity to 25T with high-capacity routers, involving hardware overhaul, new optical system deployment, data center redesign, and logistics management, to address organic and non-organic OCI backbone network's expanding customer needs. Implemented a backbone port count monitoring program for active weekly tracking, supporting backbone planning, and delivery to prioritize network augmentations effectively. Launched a DRCC capacity management and tracking program, with bi-weekly validation recordings, a documentation repository, and an runbook for consistent paper trails. Developed a real-time dashboard for DRCC capacity re-validation and checks, streamlining capacity oversight. Leading multiple projects in forecasting hardware demands with stakeholders across teams and securing funding for network expansions, aligning with strategic growth objectives. Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to precisely assess and fulfill network demands, ensuring robust and reliable network connectivity across regions globally.

Sr. Technical Program Manager

Metallurgy Department Government Polytechnic, Gandhinagar · October 2021 - March 2023
Lead a team of 10 engineers to revamp a monolithic multi-tenant database to a modularized version for storing Facebooks network topology graph, design intent and inventory by influencing the engineering design and architecture. Spearheaded the transformation of network capacity services with an 8-engineer team, enhancing self-service capabilities and improving on-call efficiency by 28%. Lead TPM for roadmap planning of Network Delivery org for planning Big Bet top-level OKRs, low-level detailed objectives to signal prioritization efforts, creating dashboard metrics for tracking and execution every 6 months and facilitating cross-functional collaboration to ensure project alignment and timely delivery. Managed a team of three data analysts in collaboration with six software teams, orchestrating the creation of annual roadmaps for each. This involved setting priorities, allocating resources, and developing dashboards to track roadmap items, enhancing project visibility and execution. Organized and facilitated large-scale events for the Production Network TPM org that included a full day of workshops interspersed with social events, lightning talks with Network Infra leadership panel and wiki-a-thon sessions, with the goal of aligning and execution team goals with that of the company vision. Contributed to Org-level goals by conducting phone interviews to hire industry best and quality TPMs that aligned with Facebook culture and would have a definitive growth path in the company. Awarded TPM Emmy Best Debutant Award for creating impact across multiple levels of org in the 1st year of joining the company.

Sr. Technical Program Manager

AMAZON WEBSERVICES · July 2015 - October 2021
Lead team of 6 TPMs and 15 Network Engineers to globally scale Amazon's backbone and edge network service, such as Cloudfront and DirectConnect, using terrestrial and sub-sea cabling for both lit and dark capacity. Designed scaling and migration strategy for Amazon Long Haul System to mitigate US$270M of OpEx cost from 90T of leased carrier waves per annum; successfully achieved ROI within 26 weeks for allocating upfront CapEx of US$117M. Managed a skilled team of 3 network engineers responsible for the development and implementation of advanced dashboards and reports, enabling real-time monitoring of network performance. This leadership role directly contributed to significant improvements in capacity planning and management processes. Developed optimal resource allocation model for assigning and scheduling available resources in most effective and economical way for global backbone scaling projects. Lead quarterly business reviews and developed mutually favorable relationships with technical vendors to improve delivery processes of network circuits (leased waves). Standardized capacity forecast planning and n+1 network redundancy model by collaborating with members of the traffic engineering team during bi-annual Operating Plan (OP1 and OP2). Conducted 200+ interviews as Amazon Bar Raiser for hiring exceptional talent across Amazon and entities. Awarded Top Performer 2 years in row by Amazon backbone leaders for continuously raising bar in network organization.
