“ASSOCIATION OF IFN-γ +874T/A and IL-6 -174 G/C CYTOKINE GENES IN TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS”
IL-6 cytokine gene polymorphisms at -174 G/C position was carried out in 75 TBDM patients and 75 HCs. The C/C genotype frequency was high in TBDM patients (54.7%) and also in HC (45.3%) when compared to the GG and GC genotypes (6.6% and 38.7% in TBDM; 16% and 38.7% in the HC respectively), but statistical significance was not observed with any of the genotypes.
The G allele frequency was high in TBDM and HC (74% and 64.7% respectively) when compared to the C allele frequency (26% and 35.3% in TBDM and HC respectively).
Statistically significant association was not observed with any of the alleles.
