About
Dr. Dania Halperin is currently a PM&R Resident at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, where she is building a solid foundation for her career in physical medicine and rehabilitation. As a PGY-1 resident, she is in the early stages of clinical training, where she gains hands-on experience in diagnosing and managing patients with various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Alongside her medical training, Dr. Halperin is deeply involved in leadership and volunteer activities, showcasing her ability to balance clinical learning with community engagement.
Dr. Halperin began her journey in medicine by pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the Sackler School of Medicine, following a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Touro University. Her academic achievements reflect her dedication and passion for the medical field. Throughout her medical education, Dr. Halperin has demonstrated both academic excellence and a strong commitment to improving the well-being of others.
Beyond her academic accomplishments, Dr. Halperin has been an active leader. As Co-President of the PM&R Student Interest Group, she has worked to promote the specialty among fellow students, organizing events and inviting speakers to expose them to the diverse aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Her role as Vice President of the Pediatrics Student Interest Group has further enhanced her leadership abilities, where she helped to expose students to various pediatrics subspecialties by organizing relevant events and speaker sessions. These positions have allowed Dr. Halperin to hone her event coordination skills, leadership abilities, and teamwork.
In addition to her leadership roles, Dr. Halperin’s volunteer efforts demonstrate her commitment to patient-centered care. She volunteers regularly with Music in the Wards, a program that brings music therapy to patients in the Ichilov outpatient rehabilitation center. Through this program, Dr. Halperin provides therapeutic support to patients through bi-monthly music sessions. She understands that healthcare is not just about treatment but also about offering patients emotional and mental comfort, particularly in their recovery processes.
Dr. Halperin’s work as a Crisis Counselor for Crisis Textline further demonstrates her ability to respond to stressful and sensitive situations. Trained in suicide prevention and crisis intervention, she provides vital emotional support to individuals in distress. This role has sharpened her communication skills, especially in high-stakes environments, allowing her to provide relief and guide individuals toward appropriate coping strategies.
Throughout her career, Dr. Halperin has shown remarkable empathy, communication, and organizational skills. These traits are essential as she advances through her medical career, preparing her for future roles in patient care, research, and leadership.
