About
Biography - Adamu Ado Abubakar
Dr. Adamu Ado Abubakar is a faculty member at Kaduna State University’s Distance Learning Centre, where he leverages his expertise to advance the field of digital transformation in education and business. He holds a PhD in Business Administration and has developed a focused research portfolio centered on the strategic dimensions of digitalization.
A key aspect of his scholarly contribution is his role as a proponent of the Digital Resource-View (DRV), a novel theoretical perspective he advances for building and managing digital resources. This framework moves beyond traditional models by emphasizing the unique characteristics of digital assets: their inherent scalability, their recombinable nature to create new value, their role as embedded digital capabilities within organizational processes, and the critical development of digital learning capabilities to foster adaptation. His work argues that a strategic focus on these dynamic resources is fundamental for achieving increasing returns in the digital economy, where the value of digital assets can grow disproportionately with use and integration.
His specific research interests, informed by this perspective, include digital orientation (the organizational mindset shift towards digital), digital initiatives (the design and implementation of technology-driven projects), and digital strategic thinking (the formulation of long-term plans that integrate digital capabilities for competitive advantage). Through his work, he investigates how institutions, particularly in distance and online learning environments, can effectively harness digital tools and strategies to improve operational outcomes, enhance learner engagement, and build sustainable value.
Beyond academia, Dr. Adamu actively translates his research, including the DRV framework, into practical guidance for the business world. He provides advisory insights to both Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporations. For SMEs, his DRV-inspired approach focuses on building lean, scalable, and recombinable digital resources to improve market access and agility. For larger firms, he addresses the challenge of embedding and orchestrating complex digital capabilities across the organization to drive innovation and secure increasing returns from their digital investments.
Dr. Adamu is dedicated to bridging theory and practice, contributing this perspective to curriculum development, academic discourse, and offering evidence-based guidance on digital strategy for educational institutions, SMEs, and large organizations seeking to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
