Journal Descriptions

Zootecnia Tropical is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to animal science and livestock production in tropical and subtropical regions. Established in 1983, the journal is published by the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrícolas (INIA) of Venezuela and serves as an important platform for research related to sustainable animal production systems. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, and technical reports focusing on key aspects of animal husbandry, including nutrition, breeding, reproduction, health, and pasture management. A distinctive feature of Zootecnia Tropical is its emphasis on tropical environments, where climatic conditions, feed resources, and management practices differ significantly from temperate regions. It also addresses issues such as climate adaptation, sustainable livestock systems, and efficient use of natural resources. The journal aims to support researchers, veterinarians, and agricultural professionals by providing scientific knowledge applicable to improving productivity and sustainability in tropical livestock farming. Although primarily published in Spanish, the inclusion of English abstracts enhances its accessibility to an international audience. Over time, Zootecnia Tropical has contributed significantly to the advancement of animal science research in Latin America and other tropical regions.
