Zoonotic Diseases (ZD)
Journal Descriptions
Zoonotic Diseases is an international peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by MDPI. It focuses on research related to diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans, known as zoonoses. The journal provides a multidisciplinary platform for scientists working in veterinary science, epidemiology, microbiology, public health, and environmental health under the One Health framework. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case studies, and short communications that address the transmission, prevention, diagnosis, and control of zoonotic infections. Special emphasis is placed on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and global health threats linked to animal-human interactions. By integrating veterinary and human medical sciences, the journal supports a holistic understanding of disease ecology. It encourages research on pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi that originate in animal populations and spread to humans through direct contact, vectors, or environmental exposure.
