Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin. Reihe A was a well-established scientific journal dedicated to general veterinary medicine, with particular emphasis on animal diseases, clinical research, and diagnostic sciences. Founded in 1963 as part of the Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin series, it played a significant role in disseminating veterinary research across Europe and internationally. The journal published original research articles, reviews, and short communications covering a wide range of topics such as pathology, infectious and non-infectious diseases, clinical treatment methods, and animal health management. It addressed both livestock and companion animal health, contributing to advancements in veterinary diagnostics, therapeutics, and disease prevention. Reihe A complemented other sections of the Zentralblatt series by focusing more broadly on clinical and general veterinary science, while other series specialized in infectious diseases or morphology. In 2005, the journal underwent restructuring and was continued under the title Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series A, which was later integrated into Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, reflecting a shift toward global and emerging animal health issues.
