Journal Descriptions

Psychodrama and Sociometry in Pedagogy, Psychotherapy, Organizational Development, Social Work, Theology, Counseling We publish both theoretical and practice-related articles in the Journal of Psychodrama and Sociometry (ZPS) and show the current state of the art in dealing with psychodramatic concepts. The authors present and further develop psychodramatic, sociodramatic and sociometric approaches in different professional fields. The journal aims to stimulate research and promote exchange among psychodramatists in German-speaking and international countries. The complete works of J.L. Moreno (1889-1974) and his further development to the present day, the psychodrama, stand for a scenic, action-oriented, interactive and creativity-promoting method. It is used in therapeutic, pedagogical and psychosocial fields, in group and individual settings. Psychodrama is based on sociological theories of roles, interactions, and socialization, and involves an axiology (philosophy, anthropology, and social doctrine) that has been shaped by different currents, such as Hasidism, existentialism, psychoanalysis, and systems theory. Sociometry is an action research method developed by Moreno for the analysis of interpersonal relationship systems from small groups to entire societies. Important goals of psychodramatic and sociometric thinking and action are the promotion of creativity and role development as well as the more humane design of interpersonal relationships.
