Journal Descriptions

Zeitschrift für Kinderpsychiatrie. Revue de psychiatrie infantile was a European multilingual academic journal dedicated to the emerging field of child and adolescent psychiatry during the early to mid-20th century. It served as a specialized platform for psychiatrists, psychologists, and pediatric clinicians focusing on mental health disorders in children. The journal published research articles, clinical case studies, therapeutic approaches, and observational studies related to developmental psychology and psychiatric conditions in infancy and childhood. The bilingual German-French format reflects its European academic collaboration, particularly between German-speaking and French-speaking psychiatric schools. The journal contributed to early discussions on child behavior disorders, intellectual development, emotional disturbances, and institutional care practices. It also addressed topics such as educational psychology, psychoanalysis in children, and early diagnostic frameworks for developmental disorders. As psychiatric science evolved, many of its themes were absorbed into more modern journals of child and adolescent psychiatry. The publication is now considered a historical reference source and is primarily accessed through university libraries and archival databases. It is no longer active, but it remains valuable for understanding the evolution of pediatric psychiatric thought in Europe.
