Zeitschrift für die gesamte Neurologie und Psychiatrie was a historically important German medical journal dedicated to the integrated study of neurological and psychiatric disorders. It played a significant role in the early development of neuropsychiatry as a combined discipline, at a time when the boundaries between neurology and psychiatry were not as clearly separated as they are today. The journal published clinical studies, case reports, theoretical discussions, and experimental research focusing on brain disorders, mental illnesses, neurological syndromes, and their overlapping manifestations. Topics included epilepsy, schizophrenia, mood disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and functional neurological conditions. It also contributed to early discussions on brain–mind relationships, psychopathology, and diagnostic classification systems. The journal was widely used in German-speaking medical communities and contributed to the development of modern neurology and psychiatry in Europe. Over time, as medical sciences evolved and specialization increased, the journal was eventually discontinued or absorbed into more specialized neurological and psychiatric publications.
