Journal Descriptions
Introducing the Wuhan Journal of Cultic Studies (WJCS), an international, open-access journal organised by the University of Wuhan. This new journal brings together eastern and western scholarship in the new religious movements (NRMs) field. It features articles, book reviews and review essays covering topics from Scientology to the New Age; Western Esoterism to neo-Shamanism; from popular religion in Japan to new religions in Korea, we aim to cover the field at the most comprehensive level. The WJCS also includes studies of new movements within traditional religions, such as the Charismatic movement in Christianity, Guru movements in Hinduism, so-called Xie Jiao in China and millenarian movements in indigenous societies. Additionally, the WJCS publishes articles and reviews books on certain quasi-religious phenomena, such as implicit religion, yoga, qi-gong, UFO societies and spiritual healing.
