Journal Descriptions

Worm publishes original research involving nematode model organisms, in particular C. elegans. Worm provides a forum for the research community to promote research, ideas, and technical advances of interest. Since findings in invertebrate model organisms like C. elegans often also have important implications for vertebrates, articles published in Worm are important to the wider research community including those working to understand the molecular basis of human diseases. Worm publishes brief reports and longer research articles, technical and methodological advances, commentaries and review articles covering all areas of research from development to evolution, from genetics to systems biology, from metabolism to neurobiology and from molecular biology to genomics. Because Worm is not topic-oriented, it is well suited for multi-disciplinary studies or studies transcending traditional areas of research. Worm also encourages submission of short reports and articles whose initial audience might be primarily the worm community itself. In addition, it is possible to directly submit manuscripts rejected elsewhere with reviewer's comments included for quick assessment and potentially rapid acceptance. Submitted manuscripts are initially assessed by the editors and if found suitable for further consideration, will be subject to peer-review by independent experts.
