World Health (WH)
Journal Descriptions
World Health was a widely circulated international magazine published by the World Health Organization, beginning in 1976. It was designed to communicate important public health information to a broad global audience, including policymakers, healthcare workers, and the general public. Unlike academic journals, the publication focused on accessible, informative content rather than original scientific research. The magazine covered a wide range of topics such as infectious diseases, vaccination programs, nutrition, sanitation, maternal and child health, and global health campaigns led by WHO. It often included feature articles, interviews, country reports, and educational materials aimed at raising awareness about key health issues and promoting healthy practices worldwide. Published regularly, typically on a monthly basis, World Health played a significant role in disseminating WHO’s mission and activities during the mid to late twentieth century. It helped bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding of health issues. Although it ceased publication in the 1990s, World Health remains an important historical resource for understanding global health communication, public health education strategies, and WHO’s early initiatives in improving worldwide health outcomes.
