Journal Descriptions

World Englishes is a well established peer reviewed academic journal that explores the global diversity and development of the English language. It focuses on how English has evolved across different regions, cultures, and societies, giving rise to multiple localized varieties known as “World Englishes.” The journal promotes research on sociolinguistics, language policy, language contact, multilingualism, and the cultural implications of English usage worldwide. It highlights how English interacts with indigenous languages and identities, shaping communication in postcolonial, globalized, and digital contexts. The journal publishes theoretical and empirical studies that examine the spread, adaptation, and standardization of English in both native and non native settings. It also addresses issues such as linguistic identity, language education, globalization, and the politics of language. By encouraging interdisciplinary scholarship, World Englishes provides valuable insights into the dynamic role of English as an international language and its impact on society, education, and communication across the globe.
