Journal Descriptions
Whiteness and Education publishes outstanding and original manuscripts that advance understanding of whiteness, white supremacy, coloniality, and decoloniality in education. The journal continues discussions of whiteness, White racism, White privilege, White supremacy, White anti-racism, and second-wave whiteness pedagogies across transnational contexts. The journal extends these discussions to understand whiteness and coloniality as transnational phenomena along with situated decolonial praxes emanating from communities of resistance. The journal welcomes papers that present empirical studies of Whiteness and coloniality in education but is also very interested in theoretical and conceptual understanding of whiteness, coloniality, and decoloniality in education. Papers may reflect any disciplinary background but must include a focus on educational contexts and praxes. Overall, the journal seeks empirical and theoretical studies that explicitly deploy critical whiteness, anti-racist, anti-imperialist, and anti-capitalist frameworks to disrupt whiteness and coloniality and to advance decolonial praxes.
