Water Economics and Policy (WEP)
Journal Descriptions
Management of water resources and water-related policy decisions are frequently guided by economic considerations. Economic aspects, including efficiency, equity, production levels, allocation, consumer behavior, water pricing, and pollution, have gained importance as water resources have become scarcer both in terms of quantity and quality. While economic analyses applied to the water sector are useful and guiding, their policy implications are often less obvious for directing policymakers. Water Economics and Policy (WEP) addresses the economic-policy interaction of the water sector and the economy at large by publishing highly technical water economics research with clear relevance for policy. WEP targets a wide range of economic questions at local, regional, national and international scale. It accommodates work that is focused on specific sectors (such as urban, hydropower, industrial, irrigation, and environment) as well as work that is inter-sectoral in nature, as well as work focusing on economy-wide analysis.
