Vulnerable Children and Youth Studies is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal focused on research, policy and care for vulnerable children and young people. Vulnerable Children and Youth Studies addresses vulnerability in childhood from scholarly and experiential perspectives with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of children. The journal provides a much-needed interdisciplinary focus on vulnerable children and youth at risk, specifically in relation to health and welfare issues, and aims to be widely consulted for cutting-edge research and effective policy and intervention. The journal addresses a variety of issues, including the psychological, sociological, health, gender, culture, economic and educational aspects of children and adolescents in developed and developing countries. Topics covered include: Mental health Illness (including HIV/AIDS) Disability Abuse and neglect Institutionalization, poverty and exploitation War, famine, violence and disaster Orphanhood The journal operates a double-anonymized peer review policy. Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.
