Journal Descriptions

Vadose Zone Journal is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal that focuses on research related to the vadose zone, the region of soil between the land surface and the groundwater table. The journal is published by the Soil Science Society of America and provides an interdisciplinary platform for scientists studying the physical, chemical, and biological processes occurring in unsaturated soils and sediments. Since its establishment in 2002, the journal has aimed to advance scientific understanding of water, solute, and gas transport in the vadose zone and their interactions with soil, plants, and microorganisms. The journal publishes original research articles, technical notes, and review papers covering topics such as soil physics, hydrology, groundwater recharge, contaminant transport, soil–plant interactions, and environmental monitoring. Research in Vadose Zone Journal also addresses important environmental issues such as water resource management, soil contamination, climate change impacts on soil systems, and sustainable agricultural practices. The journal emphasizes the use of advanced modeling techniques, field experiments, and laboratory analyses to better understand the complex processes occurring within unsaturated soils. Because of its interdisciplinary scope, the journal is widely read by soil scientists, hydrologists, environmental engineers, geologists, and agricultural researchers. It serves as an important resource for advancing knowledge related to soil–water interactions and for developing sustainable solutions for land and water management worldwide.
