Journal Descriptions

Twin Research and Human Genetics is a peer‑reviewed scientific journal devoted to research on the genetics and biology of twins, and the wider field of human genetics that uses twin study designs. It is the official journal of the International Society for Twin Studies (ISTS) and is published six times a year by Cambridge University Press. The journal publishes original research articles, timely reviews, and methodological papers that explore genetic, biomedical, behavioural, and epidemiological aspects of twinning and twin studies. Its scope includes topics such as behavioral genetics — examining heritability of traits and behaviours, complex disease genetics, prenatal and fetal pathology, endocrinology, medical genetics, obstetrics, paediatrics, psychiatric genetics, and other human genetics fields where twin designs shed unique insights. The journal serves as a focal point for disseminating advances in genetic epidemiology and molecular genetic research that improve understanding of genetic and environmental influences on human traits and health outcomes. Through rigorous peer review and international contributions, it supports both theoretical and applied research in human genetics and twin methodology.
