The journal welcomes submissions on taxonomy of insects, other hexapods, arachnids or myriapods, especially when placed in a broader evolutionary context. There is no geographical restriction. Tijdschrift voor Entomologie was published since 1857 in two issues annually by the Nederlandse Entomologische Vereniging (Netherlands Entomological Society). The 150th anniversary of the journal in 2007 contained a special second issue, containing mini-reviews and historical information on the journal.
