Tidskrift för litteraturvetenskap utkommer (TLU)
Journal Descriptions
Journal of Literary Studies has been published since 1971 with four issues per year and focuses on a broad spectrum of literary and interdisciplinary issues. In addition to publishing scientific articles and essays, TfL offers a space for subject debate and monitors literary book publishing in Sweden and the Nordic region. TfL circulates between the country's literary institutions at two-year intervals. In 2023–2024, the editorial team will be based at Stockholm University. In 2025–2026, an editorial team from Uppsala University will take over. The Journal of Literary Studies is open to literary studies articles of high scientific quality, to interdisciplinary contributions from related subjects, and to critical reviews. Articles are accepted in the Scandinavian languages as well as in English. In addition to offering a platform for the dissemination of scientific results, the journal functions as the main forum for the ongoing self-reflection of literary studies, which is essential for both research and teaching; the journal has historically hosted and initiated recurring subject debates, which have always attracted great attention and extensive engagement. Over the next few years, TfL will work to develop its relationships with international research environments in Scandinavian studies. The dual purpose of this is, on the one hand, to publish research on Swedish literature produced outside Scandinavia to a Scandinavian audience to a greater extent and, on the other hand, to make Swedish literary research accessible to international researchers. Through the collaboration with foreign Scandinavian studies institutions that TfL is now developing, the intention is also to soon be able to monitor international scholarly publications on Swedish literature within the framework of our already very active review activities.
