Journal Descriptions

The Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID) publishes bench-to-bedside or bedside-to-bench translational infectious diseases science—patient- and disease-focused research featuring a laboratory component. It provides a home for authors writing about mechanistic and translational research, seeking to put this research into context for clinical and experimental scientists as well as clinician readers. The editors welcome Major Articles and Brief Reports describing research results on microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and related disciplines (e.g., AMR, microbiome) on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases; on the microbes that cause them; and on disorders of host immune responses.
