The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles on any aspect of forensic language, speech and audio analysis. The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles on any aspect of forensic language, speech and audio analysis. Founded in 1994 as Forensic Linguistics, the journal changed to its present title in 2003 to reflect a broadening of academic coverage and readership. Subscription to the journal is included in membership of the International Association for Forensic and Legal Linguistics and the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics. The journal also carries reports on legal cases, Ph.D abstracts, conference reports and book reviews. Recent articles include: experimental investigations of phonetic parameters to assess their value in forensic speaker identification experimental investigations of different recording media experimental investigations of lay listeners’ perceptions of speech and non-speech sounds analyses of court transcripts analyses of talk in legal settings demonstrations of software programs for analysis of plagiarism demonstrations of analytic tools for tape authentication discussions of the application of Bayesian statistics to language analysis discussions of problems in transcription of spoken language discussions of the use of language analysis in determining asylum claims
